Half Day Seak Kayaking Trip to the Maori Rock Carvings:
Explore Lake Taupo's beautiful coastline while learning about the region's incredible volcanic creation and about the area's local history. Lake Taupo has experienced at least 26 volcanic eruptions in the last 26,000 years, two of which were possibly some of the largest the world has experienced in recent geological times. These Māori Rock Carvings are over 10 metres high (possibly the largest of their type in the world) and are only accessible by boat or kayak. Sea Kayaking will allow you to get up close to the carvings with plenty of time to study their details. Hear about their history, how they were carved, and also about their cultural significance.

Hidden Valley of Orakei Korako Cave / Thermal Park:
Situated just 25 minutes north of Taupo and 45 minutes south of Rotorua nestled on the shores of Lake Ohakuri lies "The Hidden Valley" of Orakei Korako Cave and thermal park. Wander through a valley of unbelievable color, of bubbling hot springs, gushing geysers and unimaginable natural beauty preserved by its isolation from the outside world. Tongariro Crossing - One Day Guided Walk:
The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is a 17km trek (8-9 hours) and is New Zealand’s best day one day walk. The track leads up to the saddle between Mt Ngauruhoe and Mt Tongariro and then diverts over Mt Tongariro. Mt Ngauruhoe, although seen by most as a volcano in its own right, it is technically a secondary cone of Mount Tongariro. The landscape on Tongariro is peppered with the different coloured and shaped craters, scoured volcanic rocks, active geothermal areas, mountain springs, and brightly coloured emerald lakes. A high level of fitness required. Note: 6-7 hrs on track + 2hrs return travel is required for this walk from Taupo. Alternatively you can stay in Tongariro National Park which shortens the travel time substantially.

Fly Fishing:
Lake Taupo and its tributaries have amazing Fly Fishing for Trout all year round. Your guide picks you up from your accommodation and off you go in 4x4 transport to one of the many local rivers available with world-class fly-fishing. Depending on conditions and experience the nearest river is only 12 minutes away from the town of Taupo. Enjoy a half day (4 hours) or full day (8 hours) guided fly fishing expedition or a 4 hour guided fishing experience on Lake Taupo
Scenic Cruise:
Nobody cruises further than our Cruise Cat. Cruise to the Maori Rock Carvings and around the picturesque bays of Lake Taupo. A full commentary is given on the volcanic history and Maori mythology surrounding Lake Taupo. Take in the fabulous views of secluded bays and the spectacular snow capped mountain peaks of the World Heritage Tongariro National Park.
Taste of Taupo Cruise:
Cruise straight to the Maori rock carvings and learn about the cultural and volcanic history of Lake Taupo with a live running commentary. Relax with a complimentary coffee or tea and hot, homemade muffin then stop at Jerusalem Bay for a fishing demonstration! Clients are able to fish as well, with the purchase of a fishing license (limit of 4 rods fishing at one time). 1.5 hour cruise
Lake Fishing Cruise:
Lake Taupo offers excellent trout fishing year round. Most fishing takes the form of trolling either lures or flies. No bait fishing is permitted. Depending on the time of day, weather and time restraints, use a combination of downriggers, harling and trolling on board. You do not need any experience or fishing gear. Experienced staff is there to help. The day includes a sumptuous luncheon, wines & beverages, and a chance to view the Maori Rock Carvings and try clay target shooting. Experience Taupo’s renowned trout fishing or just sit back and enjoy the scenery!
Whirinaki Rainforest Guided Walk:
This small group walk takes you into the Whirinaki Rainforest where you'll see some of the most magnificent indigenous podocarp forest found anywhere in the world. Your Maori guides bring the forest alive through storytelling. From Rotorua we drive about 1.5 hrs to the start of the trek and enter the forest following a loop trail through enormous podocarp trees including rimu, matai, miro, kahikatea and more. Along the way you will experience the abundance of native birdlife including bellbirds, tui, kereru, kaka, and fantails. Lunch is by a lovely waterfall. On the way back to Rotorua we stop off at some natural hot pools for a soothing dip. This walk follows well formed trails of gentle to moderate grade and takes approx 4-5 hours.
Bird Watchers Walk:
The history of this volcanic region combined with the stunning scenery, crystal clear rivers, a huge lake and strong Maori culture make it one of the most interesting areas for walking, hiking, and bird watching. Travel time is approx. 30 minutes each way and the rest of the time will be spent in the bush. The terrain is easy and the walk is interesting. There is a great variety of native New Zealand birds and stunning native forest. We supply small binoculars and pack if required. This is a nice short walk for those interested in bird watching but only have a limited time frame. Suitable for all fitness levels
Aratiatia Dam to Huka Falls Bike Ride:
This ride is timed to coincide with the opening of the floodgates at the Aratiatia dam providing a great spectacle with the rapidly rising water. The ride back along the mighty Waikato River is along a good scenic track and ends at the spectacular Huka Falls - the most visited natural sight in New Zealand. The gates open at 10.00am and 2.00pm so you will be collected 30 mins prior to this. Ride time is 1hr and return trip 2.5hrs. Medium fitness required.
Bike and Coffee Ride:
A two hour scenic ride along the shores of Lake Taupo starting in the township and riding out alongside the Lake, past hot water beach, past some of Taupo’s iconic batches on an easy trail to Wharewaka Point. On the return ride you will be rewarded with a coffee stop where you can stretch your legs, sit and soak up the vistas of Lake Taupo and enjoy a good coffee before the final part of the trip home. Easy ride. Ride time is 2 hours. Return trip 3 hours.
